Marshmallow explores the idea of creating a glass object that does not immediately look like glass. Kamila Vil works with unconventional, non-rotational forms and uses high enamel to soften the characteristic gloss and transparency of the material. Layers of color applied with an airbrush further transform its appearance, creating surfaces that feel softer and more dimensional.
Touch is an important part of the project. The objects are designed to invite the viewer to pick them up and explore their surfaces. Only through closer contact does their true material reveal itself.
Alongside touch, color plays a central role in Marshmallow. Overlapping and interacting color fields create objects that appear more like soft or sugary forms than glass.
